Tone

The tone of the third act is serious with a hint of humorous intent.  We are given a serious dialog with the famous "to be or not to be", and him thinking about avenging his father's death. But the way that Hamlet makes the performers reenact the play for the king and the way that he makes fun of and later kills Polonius is quite pleasing and entertaining.
